Moontide, a leading swimwear maker in New Zealand since 1980. Moontide is now sold in over 43 countries worldwide, It's a glamorous and elegant brand with a high standard in details and fits. The design is available up to the DD cup.

I work in Mootide for 3 years and was in charge of the Moontide line for 2 years, create over 100 styles and up to 60 groups of prints each year. My designs appear in different press and showcase in New Zealand Fashion Museum.

The design process can be separated into 5 parts:

Part I - Trends analysis
Trends analysis is always one of the important tools to determine the direction of the new collections. After deep research and forecast the coming trends then I will make trend and color boards. After, I will discuss and confirm the final directions with the owner. We would also meet with the marketing team and hear if they have any comments or feedback from customers and I take them in for the final adjustment.

Part II - Styles design
Based on trend analysis and comments gathered, I design the season's new styles and CAD drawings. Need to balance between bold designs, traditional commercial value, and cost management. Keep filling up the style library for later to select the styles into our new season range.

Part III - Prints design
Create prints with color and print trends. Including paisley, flower, color block, art brushes, stripes, etc.
Produce seamless print for screen or digital print, provide color separation for screen print. And there is a 1-3 placement print group in the Indent season also.

Part IV - Discuss & Communicate
Discuss with sample team to make the 1st sample, fitting on the model after came out and modify the pattern to fit the best. Produce tech pack and communicate with the factory and merchandising team to keep the production line running well and produce the high-quality swimwear we need on time.

Part V - Build up Range book
Gather all styles under different groups in this season with their CAD, size charts, and prints to make the range book for distributors in UK, NZ, Asia, and Europe.
